Happy New Year from the Trans Doe Task Force. As we continue to weather the political storm that threatens the lives and wellbeing of LGBTQIA+ people throughout our country, we will never stop advocating for the most vulnerable of our community.

We began 2025 with a crisis brought on by executive orders that undermined our ability to reach identifications and missing persons back to their loved ones. In February, NCMEC and NamUS altered every Transgender missing and unidentified case listing to conform to standards that caused postmortem harm to the unidentified and put the missing in greater danger.  The LAMMP database then became the only place where this information was preserved correctly.  It made our job harder, but all the more important.

Last year also saw the long-awaited identification of Julie Doe as Pamela Leigh Walton. This was the first case that the Trans Doe Task Force worked to get into the Forensic Genetic Genealogy pipeline. Lee and Dr. Redgrave were the original team leads on this case at the DNA Doe Project and had to leave her behind when the Trans Doe Task Force was officially incorporated and became our primary focus, but she never left our thoughts.

We also finally began genealogical research on Harris County 2019 Doe.  We're still working on them and hope to have an update in the coming year.
