2022 Transgender Day of Remembrance
Update: Following the tragic events at Club Q in Colorado Springs last night, we have added a peer support and open process session following our TDOR vigil for anyone who is struggling. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. We are profoundly affected as a community whenever members of our community are violently targeted. Whether or not you or someone you know was hurt or killed in this tragedy, we are all hurting today. The peer support session will be held via Zoom starting at 9 PM Eastern. Sunday, November 20 is the Transgender Day of Remembrance. On this day, groups gather to read the names of Transgender individuals who we have lost to fatal violence in the past year. The Trans Doe Task Force uses this time to honor our Trans siblings who either died unidentified or who went unnamed in reports of their death. We also use this time to remember those who TDTF has helped search for as missing persons who were sadly found deceased.
Starting at 8 PM Eastern on Sunday, November 20th, 2022, members of the Trans Doe Task Force will hold a vigil for the unnamed and formerly missing individuals on this year’s list. The vigil will begin with a nondenominational invocation before the reading of the unidentified list.
All are welcome to attend via Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitch; we simply ask that attendees be respectful in the associated chat rooms while we hold space for the fallen members of our community. Please report any trolls or unwelcome activity directly to us as well as to the platform upon which it is occurring.
There are 44 individuals listed as “Name Unknown” on the list of transgender people who lost their lives this year. This is the fifth year the Trans Doe Task Force has remembered the unnamed dead.
